Nvidia’s $216bn breakaway

Company 10-K filings via SEC companyfacts, retrieved 26 October 2026. 54 annual observations; exact fiscal dates accompany each value. December closes are paired with the following January, not identical calendar years. CurrentUSD company revenue, not profit, chip shipments, AI market share or a world ranking. Acquisitions, divestitures and accounting changes affect company perimeters. Annual values are not summed; animated transitions are illustrative.

Dates and selection

We compare three familiar rivals in PC and data-center computing, not the worldwide semiconductor industry. 18 fiscal-period pairs run from December 2008/January 2009 to December 2025/January 2026. Year labels denote the December anchor: 2025 is Intel and AMD’s fiscal 2025 versus Nvidia’s fiscal 2026. Fiscal years can contain 52 or 53 weeks. Exact start/end dates are retained with each observation. No missing observations are filled.

Values are nominal consolidated annual revenue in US dollars, divided by one billion. They are not market capitalisation, profits, units or AI revenue shares. All money is revenue for the single reporting period, not a running total. A cumulative-revenue race would conceal the recent change in annual business scale, which is the point of this comparison. Source annual facts include historical accounting and company-perimeter changes, not a constant-perimeter restatement. Intel’s 2025 earnings release warns that year-on-year comparisons are unadjusted for Altera’s deconsolidation.

SEC company-facts API: Nvidia, Intel, AMD. Accessed 26 October 2026; latest filed annual 10-K value per reporting period, with current revenue tag preferred if same filing. Original values, tags, accessions, starts, ends and filing dates are in the observation records. No quarterly forecast is appended to annual results.

Latest endpoints verified against Nvidia fiscal 2026 results, Intel 2025 results and AMD 2025 results. Final ratio: Nvidia/Intel 4.0856; Nvidia/AMD 6.2340. Nvidia first exceeds AMD in the 2015/16 pair and Intel in 2023/24. Animation interpolates annual snapshots and does not establish an exact day of overtaking.
