Reading the figures

Paddy rice is weighed before milling, including its husk. This is not ready-to-eat milled rice or an estimate of meals. China means mainland China, excluding Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. Annual values show which country leads each harvest; adding all years would conceal the recent reversal. All64 years are present for each country. No years are invented, no forecasts are added and transitions are illustrative.

Checkpoints below are exact source tonnes, before display rounding. Original source flags for all128 country observations are retained in the downloadable supporting record. The source flags mean A official figure, E estimated value, I imputed value or X figure from another international organization when present. No estimate is silently relabelled as a newly measured value.
