Who grows the world’s coffee?

USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Production, Supply and Distribution bulk release, last modified 9 October 2026. Ten largest producers in 2025/26, held fixed throughout; 360 annual observations. Marketing years start in different months by country. 2025/26 figures are estimates and may be revised. Green coffee equivalent includes arabica and robusta. Year displayed is the start of the marketing year. Motion between yearly values is interpolated.

Method and scope

The same USDA PSD release supplies each observation, in thousands of 60 kg bags; values are divided by 1,000 to show millions. The fixed cohort comprises Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Uganda, India, Honduras, Peru and Mexico, the ten largest producers in 2025/26. We show the start year of each USDA marketing year; dates are not aligned to identical calendar months across countries. The final numbers are estimates, not forecasts for 2026/27. Past estimates can be revised. Production is a yearly flow, not a cumulative sum.

USDA reports 178.83 million bags globally in 2025/26, including countries outside the chart. Brazil's 63 million and Vietnam's 31.7 million sum to 94.7 million, or approximately 53% of that global total. Brazil produces 1.99 times Vietnam and 5.04 times Colombia. Vietnam first exceeds Colombia in the 1999/2000 estimates, falls below in 2002/03 and passes again in 2003/04. The animation interpolates between these annual observations; it does not identify the precise date of a crossing.
